A Tomatin single malt, selected and bottled by Double-V, a 9 year old Highland malt from 2011, drawn from cask 106/2011 and bottled at 58.5%. Only 222 bottles were released. Tomatin is a Highland single malt distilled in the hills south of Inverness, where the distillery was founded in 1897. By 1974 Tomatin ran twenty three stills and was the largest malt distillery in Scotland.

It was made in copper stills from unpeated barley, for a fruity, mellow make. An unusual cask gave it a distinctive, fruity character. At this age the spirit is fresh and fruity, apple and pear bright. Dunnage and racked warehousing on site gives a steady maturation. The arrival of the Highland Railway in the 1890s made the distillery possible. It closed in 1906 and reopened in 1909, finding its feet over the following decades. The Antiquary blend came into the group through the blender J and W Hardie.

Undiluted at 58.5%, it is layered. Pear, honey and a malty note, and the Rum cask brings brown sugar and a tropical lift. It is fruity and soft, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish is rounded, honeyed and gentle. This is a soft, approachable Highland malt.
