From Gordon & MacPhail comes this Tomatin matured to 32 year old from 1988, drawn from cask 6656 and bottled at 54.6%. The outturn was 145 bottles. Founded in 1897 high in the Monadhliath hills, Tomatin makes a soft, fruity Highland single malt. The distillery was founded in 1897 by a local company, taking its name from the village, Gaelic for hill of the juniper.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in copper stills on Allt na Frithe water, giving the light, mellow spirit at its heart. A refill bourbon cask held it, keeping the fruit to the fore. At over thirty years it is rich and mellow, tropical fruit, honey and old oak. A patient maturation suits the soft, fruity Tomatin character. The distillery sits beside the A9, the old road north to Inverness. Cu Bocan focuses on unusual cask finishes, from sherry to wine and beyond. Tomatin stands at over three hundred metres, among the highest in the land.

At a natural 54.6% it is full and fruity. Apple, pear and a soft honey, and the ex-Bourbon lends vanilla and a soft honey. The texture is soft and round, the fruit lifted by honey. The finish runs gentle, fruity and mellow. This is a fruity Highland single malt from the Monadhliath hills.
