An official Cu Bocan single malt matured to 11 year old from 2005 and bottled at 50%. The outturn was 11400 bottles. Cù Bòcan is the peated sub brand of Tomatin, distilled for a short run each year. Tomatin malt long fed blends such as The Antiquary and The Talisman.

It was made in copper stills from peated barley, for a smoky, fruity make. Maturation in sherry laid dried fruit over the peat. At this age the smoke is fresh and ashy over a bright orchard fruit. Cu Bocan is known for unusual casks, the wood shaping the smoke. Malt is bought in, the distillery's own floor maltings having closed in the 1980s. For most of its life the distillery rarely ran to its full capacity. The make is light and fruity, easy to like and easy to drink. Special releases like Decades and Warehouse 6 have marked the distillery's milestones. Cold, clean water runs down to the distillery from the hills above.

At a full 50% it is bold yet fruity. Soft peat over apple and vanilla, and the Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth. A soft peat and a ripe fruit give it depth. Soft peat and ripe fruit see out the finish. This is the peated side of Tomatin.
