Description
STIN comes from Styria in southern Austria, where the gin draws on local fruit: apples from the south of the region and elderflower from the east, set against juniper and a roster of 28 botanicals. The base spirit is distilled slowly in small copper pot stills with high-quality Styrian spring water, then this sloe expression goes a step further, a second maceration with sloe berries and sugar steeping the fruit deep into the spirit. No flavourings, no additives, just fruit and time.
The nose carries fresh citrus and juniper over a soft fruity sweetness of sloes and apple. The palate is refreshing and fruity, intense sloe balanced against the orchard apple, elderflower and a clean citrus lift. It finishes long and smooth, fruity with a mild spice. Shake it into a Sloe Gin Fizz, or keep it simple over ice with tonic, a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint.
