Description
Batch 8 of The Sexton, a young sherry matured single malt distilled at Bushmills in Co. Antrim and released in 2018 at four years old. The brand was conceived by blender Alex Thomas as a sherried Irish malt built for early drinking, triple distilled, unpeated and bottled at 40% for the European market.
Maturation runs through first, second and third fill Oloroso sherry butts, the mix of fill levels balancing rich and restrained sherry influence. Honey, vanilla and fresh fruit from the young spirit meet nut, milk chocolate and dried fruit from the butts, a generous amount of flavour development for four years in wood, and a clear statement of the style the label was made to deliver.
