Description
Sessile oak, Quercus Petraea, is Ireland's native tree, yet Irish oak casks remain a genuine rarity in Irish whiskey, which makes this edition the emotional heart of The Crolly's Coillín Darach Oak Series. The Donegal distillery, running small pot stills in the old Crolly doll factory since 2020, bottled this release for the Irish market.
Full maturation in virgin Irish oak gives a character distinct from either the American or continental editions, a drier, more herbal spice with fresh oak, apple and a peppery young malt core, in the house style of a distillery whose spirit is still finding its long term shape. Bottled at 46%, it closes the circle neatly, Irish barley spirit sleeping in Irish oak, a small whiskey with a strong sense of place.
