Description
The Clydeside Distillery stands on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, in the old Pumphouse of the Queen's Dock, opened in 2017 by Tim Morrison of the Morrison whisky family. When Glasgow hosted COP26, the United Nations climate change conference, in 2021, the distillery marked the occasion with this release, a young single malt from a distillery that sits at the heart of the host city. An edition of 1,500 bottles.
Distilled from Scottish barley and Loch Katrine water in the distillery's single pair of copper stills, the spirit spent three years in ex-Bourbon oak. At so young an age the fresh, fruity Lowland character leads, the bourbon wood adding a light vanilla. It is bottled at 46 percent, an approachable strength.
On the palate it is fresh and clean, green apple, pear and citrus over a soft vanilla and a biscuity malt, finishing bright and lightly peppered. A young commemorative bottling from Glasgow's Clydeside, made to mark the city's turn on the world stage. Released in an edition of 1,500, it stands as a small record of the week the world's climate talks came to the banks of the Clyde.
