Elfeet Bay, named for a quiet corner of Lough Ree itself, is one of the older bottlings in the Bridge series from Lough Ree Distillery of Lanesborough, Co. Longford. It is a sourced Irish single malt of 14 Years Old, stock well beyond the reach of the newer distilleries and bottled without a declared distillery, 280 bottles at 43% for the Italian market.
Bourbon casks did the long work of honey, malt and orchard fruit before a finish in white Moscatel casks layered in grape sweetness, blossom and a soft chocolate note. At 43% it drinks gently for its age, an unhurried old malt from a lake shore label with a good eye for casks.
