A Tokaji-finished TDL from Maison Ferrand’s Plantation line, released through RomDeluxe at cask strength, minty and peppery with a distinct wine-cask lift over woody oak and leather, a firmer and more characterful Trinidad pour at 52%.
Description
Released through RomDeluxe, this Plantation bottling from Maison Ferrand takes a TDL rum of the 2009 vintage and finishes it in Tokaji casks. Plantation is a double-aged brand that openly uses dosage, so while this cask-strength release shows more grip than the standard range, it sits in the brand's sweet-wine-influenced idiom rather than a strict no-additives tradition.
Distilled on the column still and matured twelve years before bottling at 52%, it keeps the light Trinidad backbone but gains a distinct minty character alongside a clear wine note from the Tokaji cask, with tropical fruit and oak on the nose. The palate runs minty and peppery over barrel and wood, the finish woody with wine and leather. The higher strength gives it more presence than many Plantation releases, an affordable, mint-led Trinidadian where the wine finish adds an intriguing twist.
