Description
An 8 year old Trinidad rum from the Plantation range, bottled by Maison Ferrand, the French house known for double ageing in cognac casks and for openly using dosage. Drawn from Trinidad Distillers, part of the Angostura group, it represents the island's light, smooth, modern style sweetened for an easy, mainstream palate.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and finished in Ferrand's house style, it is plainly sweet: vanilla and ripe banana on the nose, brown sugar, vanilla and soft fruit on the palate, and a finish of banana, oak and a light burn. This is openly a sweetened rum, so it reads as a rounded, dessert leaning sipper rather than a dry one, with the added sugar smoothing the 42% into something gentle and approachable. Honest comfort rum rather than a purist's pour.
