An official Springbank single malt, a 9 year old from 2007 and bottled at 57.1%. 1128 bottles in all. A family distillery since 1828, Springbank is a byword for traditional Scotch whisky making. Campbeltown was its own protected whisky region long before the revival.

The spirit was drawn off after two and a half distillations of gently peated malt, and slowly worm tub cooled. Maturation in a fortified wine cask lent red and dark fruit. At this age the spirit is vivid and oily, the fruit and salt to the fore. The hands on, small scale working shapes a spirit of real individuality. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak. Today just three distilleries survive in the old Kintyre whisky town.

Undiluted at 57.1%, it is intense. A briny, oily depth with a hint of peat ride on honey, apricot and a candied sweetness. It is rich and layered, the fruit and salt well matched. Salt and oily fruit see out a long finish. This is a hand made Campbeltown single malt.
