Springbank Private Bottling 21 Years Old 1999 (46.2%)

This official Springbank single malt, aged 21 year old from 1999, drawn from cask 1999 - 285 and bottled at 46.2%. Established in 1828, Springbank is campbeltown's most revered surviving distillery. Bottles are released in small batches, often through ballots to meet the demand.

The spirit was given Springbank's unusual two and a half times distillation, the vapour cooled in worm tubs. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the maritime malt. Past twenty years the spirit turns waxy and profound while keeping its character. Everything is done on site, the spirit going from still to cask to bottle in Campbeltown. Kintyre's damp, mild climate suits a long and gentle maturation. The old town of Campbeltown once rivalled Speyside as Scotland's whisky heart. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls.

At a natural 46.2% it is full and oily. An oily, maritime character with light peat are layered with dried fruit, fig and walnut. Soft fruit and brine sit behind the cask sweetness. Sea salt and fruit draw out the close. This is a revered Campbeltown single malt.
