A distillery bottling of Longrow matured to 21 year old and bottled at 46%. Springbank has distilled in Campbeltown since 1828, a byword for traditional Scotch whisky making. The family owner also holds Cadenhead's, the oldest independent bottler in Scotland.

It was drawn off two distillations of heavily peated malt, with the spirit condensed in worm tubs. A sherry cask wrapped the oily spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth. Beyond twenty years the malt grows waxy and deep, tropical fruit and salt over an oily base. The hands on, small scale working shapes a spirit of real individuality. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak. Today just three distilleries survive in the old Kintyre whisky town. The maritime warehouses by the sea lend the malt its briny, oily depth. A 1940s Porteus mill and an open iron mash tun are part of the old setup.

Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. A tarry, maritime smoke ride on raisin, fig and a vanilla sweetness. A waxy weight and a saline tang give it real body. The finish runs deep, briny and warm. This is Longrow, the heavily peated Campbeltown malt.
