Springbank 25 Years Old

This official Springbank single malt, a 25 year old and bottled at 43%. A family distillery since 1828, Springbank is prized for its rich, oily, hand made spirit. Bottles are released in small batches, often through ballots to meet the demand.

The spirit was given Springbank's unusual two and a half times distillation, the vapour cooled in worm tubs. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the make lead. At this age it is rich and complex, the fruit folded into a waxy, briny body. Long maturation suits the heavy, characterful make, the cask knitting slowly with the spirit. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak.

Reduced to 43%, it is mellow. A coastal, waxy spirit with gentle peat meet a vanilla and toffee sweetness from the cask. Soft fruit and brine sit behind the cask sweetness. Sea salt and fruit draw out the close. This is a revered Campbeltown single malt.
