This official Springbank single malt, aged 12 year old, drawn from cask Batch 18 and bottled at 54.8%. Springbank has distilled in Campbeltown since 1828, the most traditional distillery in Scotch, malting all its own barley. Small output and a cult following keep its bottles allocated and keenly sought.

It was given the part triple distillation unique to Springbank, the vapour cooled in worm tubs. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the maritime malt. By this age the maritime weight rounds into a richer, fuller malt. Worm tub condensing and an oil fired wash still build the rich, oily texture the distillery is known for. Quality and tradition, not volume, have always been the watchwords here. The spirit is filled to cask and matured within the distillery walls. Few distilleries keep so much of the old craft alive under one roof. Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world, with more than thirty distilleries at its peak.

At its natural 54.8% it is concentrated. Raisin, fig and a vanilla sweetness from the cask underpins oily orchard fruit, salt and a wisp of peat. Soft fruit and brine sit behind the cask sweetness. It finishes deep, complex and maritime. This is a revered Campbeltown single malt.
