Description
Shizuoka 6 Years Old 2017 is a single cask cask strength single malt from Gaiaflow's Shizuoka distillery in Shizuoka prefecture, distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2023 for the Japanese domestic market. Six years represents one of the longer maturations released by Shizuoka from its founding-year distillations, giving the Bourbon cask more time to work on the new make and produce a rounder, more integrated spirit than the distillery's four-year releases.
At 57.6%, the Bourbon cask has contributed toffee, ripe orchard fruit, vanilla and soft toasted oak, with the fresh, cereal-forward new make character still present but better integrated. The cedar washbacks used in Shizuoka's production add a subtle herbal lift that keeps the profile lively. A single cask of six years from the distillery's first production year, bottled without dilution for the domestic market.
