Description
This official Rosebank single malt, a 15 year old release, and bottled at 61%. The outturn was 2400 bottles. Rosebank stood on the Forth and Clyde Canal at Falkirk from 1840 until it was mothballed in 1993. Its closed era stock became a collector's prize.
It was put through three stills and worm tubs for body and finesse, giving a clean, fruity spirit with a worm tub weight. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the Lowland character to the fore. By this age the grassy spirit rounds into honey, citrus and marzipan. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the honeyed, fruity core over decades. The closed era stock is finite, and every bottle drawn is one fewer left. Rosebank stood on the Forth and Clyde Canal, which once carried its casks to market. The pairing of triple distillation and worm tubs was unique to Rosebank among Scotch distilleries. Blenders prized the malt for its elegant, floral character and unusual weight.
Bottled at a cask strength 61%, it is rich. Honeysuckle and lemon zest meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft citrus and orchard fruit sit behind the sweetness. The close is gentle, florals over soft oak. This is a collectable relic of a cult Lowland name.
