Roe & Co occupies the converted Guinness power station on Thomas Street in Dublin, Diageo's 2019 tribute to George Roe, whose vanished distillery once dominated the street. Its blends marry sourced Irish stock with the site's own liquid, and this cask strength edition strips away the polish, bottled undiluted at a formidable 62.3%.
Bourbon casks supply the full flavour bill, vanilla, chocolate, roasted nut and fragrant fresh oak stacked high by the strength. Water opens it considerably, pulling out orchard fruit and softening the grip of the wood, so there is a session of adjustment in every bottle. For a brand pitched at smoothness, this is the outlier, Dublin blending with the volume turned all the way up.
