Description
This 13 Years Old single malt appeared as Roe & Co's Cask Strength 2020 Edition, bottled for France. Distilled in 2007, the malt long predates the 2019 opening of Diageo's Thomas Street distillery, so this is sourced Irish stock chosen and finished by the Roe & Co team, cask selection in the bonder tradition rather than home distillation.
Port casks shaped the maturation, saturating the malt with red fruit, plum and a winey sweetness over honey and soft cereal. Bottled at an undiluted 57.1%, it takes water well, opening toward baked orchard fruit. As the oldest and rarest face of a young brand, it shows the quality of the stock behind Dublin's newest blending house.
