Description
Pol Roger was founded in Epernay in 1849 and remains one of Champagne's most respected houses, long tied to Winston Churchill. This non-vintage Reserve Brut is built in equal parts from the three classic grapes, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, for a balance of structure, freshness and elegance. It follows the traditional method and rests at least 36 months on the lees in the house's deep, cool cellars, well beyond the legal minimum, which builds its fine bead, complexity and creamy texture.
The colour is a radiant light gold with a fine, long-lasting bead. The nose shows pear, apricot, citrus and white flowers over fine brioche and hazelnut, and the palate is lively and balanced, with elegant freshness, a subtle minerality and a creamy mouthfeel. The finish is long, silky and gently spiced. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes a refined aperitif and suits oysters, seafood, sushi, fine starters and poultry, as well as creamy cheese.
