Description
Champagne Palmer & Co is a grower-based house in Reims, and its Rosé Solera takes its name from a perpetual reserve system that blends successive years together for consistency and depth. The wine is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle followed by extended ageing on the lees, and its rosé colour comes from red-wine components in the blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The layering of reserve wines gives the cuvée more structure and a rounder, riper red-fruit profile than a single-year rosé. Dosage sits in the Brut range, keeping the finish dry.
The colour is a bright salmon pink with a fine bead. The nose leads with strawberry, raspberry and red currant, backed by citrus peel and a toasted, creamy tone from the lees. The palate is fruit-forward but balanced, with a savoury depth underneath and a clean, dry close. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as a fruity aperitif and pairs with roast chicken, crab and lobster, or a bowl of summer berries.
