From Van Wees, the Dutch house behind The Ultimate range, this 12 Year Old is a 2009 vintage from ex-Bourbon cask 701781. Miltonduff, the fresh, floral Speyside distilled beside Pluscarden Abbey near Elgin and long bound for the Ballantine's blend.

Twelve years in ex-Bourbon let oak and spirit knit, vanilla and honey from lignin and wood sugars settling into the delicate Speyside make.

At 46% it shows fresh fruit, an oily texture and vanilla. An Ultimate 12.
