Description
Mezcal Amaras Reserva Especial Ancestral Arroqueno is a joven mezcal from the Reserva Especial range, made from wild Arroqueno, the massive Agave americana that can take up to twenty years to mature and is the genetic mother of cultivated Espadin. This 2024 release is limited to roughly 2,060 bottles in a ceramic vessel. It carries maestra mezcalera Diana Orozco Cruz's nomenclature C2, where C marks a mezcal ancestral.
As an ancestral mezcal it is pit roasted, hand or mallet crushed and distilled in wood fired clay pot stills, the strictest and most hands on class, where the clay lends a soft mineral and earthen character. The nose offers fresh vegetal notes, damp earth, clear minerality and a subtle hint of roasted agave. The palate joins vegetal sweetness with elegant earthy tones and lingering minerals, the finish silky and long at 43%.
