This official Longrow single malt matured to 18 year old and bottled at 46%. The outturn was 2100 bottles. The Springbank distillery, a family distillery since 1828, is one of the last working distilleries of old Campbeltown. Production is tiny by modern standards, a fraction of a large Speyside distillery.

The make was floor malted, peated hard and double distilled for Longrow, and run into cast iron worm tubs. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. By this age the maritime weight rounds into a richer, fuller malt. Sea air works into the warehouses, lending a saline thread as the whisky breathes. A 1940s Porteus mill and an open iron mash tun are part of the old setup. The Mitchell family has held the distillery for five generations. The town and the sea run through every cask of the make. The sea loch at the foot of the town shapes the coastal character of the malt.

At 46% it is smooth and oily. Smoke, tar and an oily maritime depth are layered with a vanilla and toffee sweetness. It is deep and complex, the maritime spirit shining through. It closes long, oily and salty. This is a smoky, maritime Campbeltown single malt.
