A 25 Year Old Long Pond from Maison Ferrand, distilled on a heritage John Dore pot still and matured in cognac casks, fruity pineapple and overripe mango meeting cherry, leather and oak, bottled unsweetened at a fierce 62.6%.
Description
This 25 Year Old Long Pond, bottled by Maison Ferrand in its Plantation Extreme line under the ITP marque, comes from the historic Trelawny Wedderburn house, distilled in 1995 on a John Dore pot still, a heritage configuration prized for weight and aromatic depth. Long-fermented and matured first at origin and then in cognac casks in the house style, it pairs Jamaican funk with French-cask richness at cask strength.
The nose is fruity with pineapple, mango and wood, the palate turns intense with cherry, wood and a cognac-like depth, and the finish runs woody with vanilla, leather and fruit. Bottled at 62.6% and unsweetened, the strength is assertive but carries decades of complexity. This is a deeply aged, fruit-and-oak Long Pond for drinkers who want classic Jamaican character given extra dimension by a long cognac-cask marriage, a serious neat pour with real presence.
