Legendario Aguardiente de Cana Natural

Legendario Aguardiente de Cana Natural is a Cuban cane spirit at its most stripped-back, an aguardiente rather than an aged ron. Made from sugar-cane honey and left unaged, it skips the barrel entirely, so there is none of the vanilla-and-toffee polish that defines the smoother Spanish-style sippers.

Distilled on a column still, it shows the raw, vegetal side of cane that the category usually buries under oak. The nose is dominated by sugarcane with a medicinal edge, and the palate runs grassy and sugarcane-sweet with a peppery, faintly cheesy funk and a clear spirit heat. This is a rustic, unpolished spirit better understood as cane in the raw or a cocktail component than as a refined neat pour, honest about what it is rather than dressed up as something it is not.
