A light Cuban white ron from Legendario, column distilled from molasses, showing floral, date and yellow fruit aromas with a hot, bergamot and anise tinged palate, very much a mixing rum at 40%.
Description
Legendario Anejo Blanco is a Cuban white ron in the light, charcoal filtered island tradition, distilled from molasses on a column still and bottled at 40%. With no age statement and a pale, lightly rested character, it is firmly a mixing spirit rather than a sipper, made for the daiquiris, mojitos and cuba libres at the heart of Cuban drinking culture.
The nose carries floral and flowery notes with dates and yellow fruits, while the palate turns fruity and hot with bergamot and a flash of ester, finishing hot with citrus and anise. Reviewers rate it well for caipirinhas and mojitos and prefer it to some better known light rums for that purpose, while finding it less rewarding neat. Added sugar is not disclosed, but the honest framing here is a young, citrus led white built for cocktails, where its bright fruit and lightness shine far more than they do on their own.
