Laphroaig 18 Years Old 2009

From the old core range that ran until the 18 was dropped in 2015, this 2009 cask strength bottling shows Laphroaig at a mellower, more contemplative age. Chocolate and fresh fruit join the smoke.

Eighteen years in ex-Bourbon soften the medicinal edge into a rounded depth, old wood emerging with the years.

At 48% the peat is smoky and settled, citrus and cooked fruit alongside the chocolate, vanilla from the oak beneath.
