Description

Released in 2024, this Sherry Oak Cask Finish rounds the 10 in European oak Oloroso casks, a richer, more recent take on Laphroaig's sherried side. Chocolate and a nutty edge join the dried fruit.

European oak is tighter-grained than American, and the Oloroso it once held leaves fig and raisin from its melanoidins. At 48% that fruit sits in balance with the peat rather than under it.

The smoke stays medicinal and the iodine bright, with citrus cutting through the chocolate and sherried fruit. The malt is heavily peated as ever, dried over Islay peat near Port Ellen.
