Description

A 1970s bottling for Italy, labelled Islay Malt Scotch Whisky and filled at the old 43% strength that predates the modern 40% standard. This is Laphroaig from half a century ago, a genuine vintage collectable.

The spirit was made much as it is now: heavily peated malt, ten years in ex-Bourbon, the medicinal house character intact across the decades.

At 43% the peat reads tarry and medicinal, vanilla underneath. Its value lies in the era and the market it was bottled for.
