Lagavulin Lg2 SMS Elements of Islay (Speciality Drinks Ltd)

Speciality Drinks bottled this Lagavulin as Lg2 in its Elements of Islay range, a cask strength release matured in American oak and Oloroso, from 2010. Lagavulin has stood at its namesake bay since 1816, one of Islay's south-shore distilleries.

The malt is heavily peated, the spirit drawn slowly off the stills. Matured in American oak and Oloroso at full strength, the sherry adds dried fruit to the smoke.

At its natural strength of 58%. The peat smoke is all guaiacol and phenols, the Oloroso giving dried fruit, the American oak vanilla. Tasting notes take in citrus, cooked fruit, fresh fruit, a hay-like note, honey and a kippery edge. A rare Elements of Islay Lagavulin.
