Lagavulin Distillery Exclusive Bottling (bottled 2018)

This Distillery Exclusive Bottling was a 2018 cask strength Lagavulin matured in American oak and ex-Bourbon, sold at the distillery, an outturn of 6,000 bottles. The distillery was established in 1816 beside Lagavulin Bay, near Dunyvaig Castle.

Lagavulin's peated spirit is run slowly off the stills for weight. Matured in American oak and ex-Bourbon at full strength, the wood gives vanilla beneath the smoke.

Bottled at full strength, 53.5%. The phenols, guaiacol among them, drive the smoke, the oak giving vanilla. The recorded note is a rubbery edge over the smoke. A distillery exclusive Lagavulin.
