Lagavulin 20 Years Old 1990 Cask #4395 (Murray McDavid)

Murray McDavid bottled this 1990 Lagavulin for The Syndicate's, a 20 year old single cask from ex-Bourbon cask 4395, an outturn of 261 bottles. Lagavulin was built in 1816 beside the bay that gives it its name.

Slow distillation through the pear-shaped stills gives a deep, smoky spirit. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask at full strength, two decades deepen the smoke.

Cask strength, 48.1%. The smoke comes off the phenols and guaiacol, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla over a waxy depth. A mature independent Syndicate's Lagavulin.
