Description

Murray McDavid bottled this 15 year old Lagavulin for The Syndicate's at cask strength, released for Germany, a sibling to the firm's other Syndicate's 15. The distillery dates to 1816, on the rocky south shore of Islay.

The malt is heavily peated, the spirit drawn slowly off the stills. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, fifteen years give a deep smoke.

At cask strength, 58.2%. The smoke comes from guaiacol and phenols, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla. A rare independent Syndicate's Lagavulin.
