Lagavulin 15 Years Old MM The Syndicate’s (Murray McDavid, Europe)

Murray McDavid bottled this 15 year old Lagavulin for The Syndicate's at cask strength. Independent Lagavulin is scarce, since nearly all its spirit is kept for official bottling. Lagavulin dates from 1816, tucked into a bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

The heavily peated wash is distilled slowly, the still shape lending body. Matured in ex-Bourbon at full strength, fifteen years give a deep smoke.

At its natural strength of 59.2%. Peat phenols and guaiacol carry the smoke, vanilla coming from the ex-Bourbon. The palate shows citrus, a coal-gas edge, a kippery note, a medicinal edge, smoke and vanilla. A rare independent Syndicate's Lagavulin.
