Lagavulin 14 Years Old (Islay Jazz Festival 2024)

This 14 Years Old was Lagavulin's bottling for the Islay Jazz Festival in 2024, a cask strength release of 1,500 bottles given a Cabernet Sauvignon cask influence. Lagavulin, founded in 1816, is the middle voice of southern Islay's peated trio.

Slow distillation through the pear-shaped stills gives a deep, smoky spirit. Matured with a Cabernet Sauvignon influence, the wine wood brings dark berry fruit and a drying grip to the smoke.

At cask strength, 56.1%. Guaiacol and cresols carry the smoke, the Cabernet cask adding dark berry and plum with a tannic edge. The recorded notes run to citrus and old wood. A wine-matured festival Lagavulin.
