Lagavulin 12 Years Old (Special Releases 2017)

This undiluted 12 Years Old was the 2017 Special Release, matured in American oak. The distillery has occupied Lagavulin Bay since 1816, near the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle.

A famously unhurried distillation gives a heavy, peated body. Matured twelve years in American oak and bottled undiluted for a direct, smoky dram.

Cask strength, 56.5%. The peat smoke is all guaiacol and phenols, vanilla from the American oak. Notes take in a rubbery note, a coal-gas edge, a toasted note, citrus, smoke and vanilla. A cask strength Special Release.
