Description

The Italian importer Moon-Import bottled this 1988 Lagavulin for its In the Pink series, a 12 year old single cask from ex-Bourbon cask 2028, an outturn of 340 bottles. The distillery dates from 1816, set on the Kildalton coast of southern Islay.

Lagavulin's peated wash is taken slowly off pear-shaped stills. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, twelve years carry a vivid smoke.

Bottled at 46%. The smoke comes from guaiacol and phenols, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla. A rare In the Pink single cask Lagavulin from an Italian importer.
