Description
Bouvet Ladubay has made sparkling wine in Saumur in the Loire Valley since 1851, specialising in traditional bottle fermentation. This rose cremant is built mainly on Cabernet Franc, the classic red grape of the region, with other local varieties in support. After hand picking and gentle pressing the wine goes through its second fermentation in bottle and rests on the lees, which gives it a fine bead and a gentle biscuit depth behind the red fruit. It is finished dry in the brut style.
The wine is a delicate rose with salmon highlights and a lively, fine perlage. The nose is fruity, with fresh strawberry, raspberry and red currant over floral accents and a hint of brioche and almond biscuit. The palate is fresh and lively, with a creamy texture, balanced red fruit and a long, gently mineral finish. Serve at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It is a stylish aperitif and pairs well with salmon carpaccio, sushi, summer salads and fruity desserts.
