Description
Bouvet Ladubay has produced sparkling wine in the Loire Valley for more than 170 years, working by traditional bottle fermentation from its cellars near Saumur. This brut cremant is a blend of Loire grapes led by Chenin Blanc with Chardonnay in support. After gentle pressing the wine undergoes its second fermentation in bottle and matures on the lees, developing a fine, elegant perlage and a gentle bready complexity. It is finished dry in the brut style, keeping the fresh orchard fruit to the fore.
The wine is a bright golden yellow with a lively, fine perlage. The nose shows green apple, fresh pear and white peach over acacia blossom, citrus zest and a fine brioche note. The palate is fresh and elegant, with balanced acidity, a clear minerality and a long finish carrying a hint of roasted almond. Serve at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes an elegant aperitif and pairs well with seafood, light fish dishes, fresh salads and a classic cheese selection.
