Island Compagnie RHUM ISLAND Red Cane

Island Compagnie bottles its RHUM ISLAND Red Cane from Marie-Galante, the small Guadeloupe island whose cane-juice rums are often released high-proof and full of character. This is an unaged blanc distilled from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice, carrying the IGP rather than the Martinique AOC.

Where many blancs lead with grass and pepper, this one is unusually fruit-forward, with dried and tropical fruit, mango and pineapple on the nose, then a palate piled with mango, pineapple and papaya. The finish brings sugar-cane and brown sugar with a vegetal edge. Bottled at 53% with no added sugar, it stays dry beneath all that fruit, a vivid, exotic take on the Marie-Galante blanc that drinks well neat and turns a Ti' Punch tropical.
