When this special edition appeared in 2010, an Irish single grain at eighteen years old was almost unheard of, and Cooley released just 4,000 bottles of it for the Dutch market. Greenore takes its name from the port village on Carlingford Lough near the Co. Louth distillery whose column stills produced the spirit.

Eighteen years in ex-bourbon American oak take Cooley's maize led grain somewhere richer than its younger siblings, layering honeyed toffee, coconut and dried banana with polished oak and a late flicker of spice. Bottled at 46% rather than the line's usual 40%, it carries the extra strength well, a slow, sweet old grain that shows how gracefully this underrated style ages.
