This release in The Black Cat Series comes from Whiskyfacile, an Italian independent bottler, and is a 2019 vintage single malt distilled at The Great Northern Distillery in Dundalk, Co. Louth. A single bourbon barrel, number 163821, was bottled in 2025 at 5 Years Old, giving 264 bottles for the Italian market, a straightforward single cask look at Ireland's largest independent distillery.
The bourbon barrel gives the young malt its full wardrobe of vanilla, coconut and toasted oak, wrapped around ripe orchard fruit, honey and clean cereal sweetness, the house signature of Great Northern spirit. Bottled at its natural cask strength of 51.3%, it is punchy and direct neat, while a little water teases out pear, custard and a soft white pepper warmth through the finish.
