Description
Gratien & Meyer has been a leading Loire sparkling house since 1864, and this Brut is a white Cremant de Loire made by the traditional method. Chenin Blanc leads the blend for freshness and mineral tension, with Chardonnay adding structure and a portion of Cabernet Franc vinified as white for body. After a first fermentation in stainless steel, the base wine is blended and refermented in bottle, then rested on the lees to develop its fine bead and gently bready complexity.
The wine is a bright golden yellow with green lights and a very fine perlage. The nose shows green apple, pear and citrus alongside white flowers and a clear yeasty note, while the palate is creamy and silky with balanced acidity and integrated minerality. The finish is long and clean with a faint toasted edge. Serve at around 6 degrees in a white wine glass. It makes a stylish aperitif and suits seafood, oysters, fine fish dishes, poultry and mild cheese.
