Twelve years in Oloroso casks sits in the productive middle window for sherry maturation, with the cask's first fill activity well developed and European oak tannin contribution accumulating at productive levels. The residual oxidised sherry transfers fully to the spirit, while lignin's breakdown contributes vanillin and syringaldehyde and hemicellulose's furfural chemistry builds in the background. At sustained 61.3% strength, the cask's contribution presses through sharper than in softer reductions, with the spirit's natural Speyside character framed against intensified sherry signature.

On the nose, malt extract sits with raisin and polished oak, the cask's first fill sherry signature clearly forward. The palate runs concentrated at 61.3%: fig, dark chocolate and developing rancio, with European oak tannins emerging mid palate. Cocoa nib bitterness threads through alongside the cask's residual sweetness. The finish is long and tannic, the cask's full extractive load pressing through without softening the spirit's Speyside character beneath.
