Description

Glendalough Wild Rose Gin was created by Head Distiller Ciaran Rooney in honour of his late mother, Rose, and first poured at his brother's wedding. Roses tended in the distillery's own garden are vapour-distilled with wild roses and botanicals foraged around the Wicklow distillery in a gentle process, then the spirit is macerated on rose petals afterwards, which both deepens the flavour and draws out its natural pale-pink colour. The result is intensely floral yet mild and open.

The nose offers bright lemon and blood orange, gentle juniper and a rush of fresh roses. The palate is clear rose petal with light berries, a hint of Turkish delight and a delicate nectar sweetness, before a long floral finish carries pink pepper and a subtle earthy spice. Serve in a rose gin and tonic with fresh strawberries or a twist of lemon.
