Glenburgie from the distillery, a 15 year old, from 1992, cask Batch GB 15 001, at 58.8%. Glenburgie is a Speyside single malt from near Alves, founded in 1810 as Kilnflat. It was expanded to six stills after the rebuild, one of the bigger distilleries in the group. It sits near Alves in Moray, east of Forres, in the heart of Speyside.

Worked unhurried through the stillhouse, for a light body with a gentle, waxy edge. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending a creamy vanilla. At oxidative maturity aldehydes lend a nutty edge while ellagitannins draw a gentle, drying grip across the fruit. Years in oak deepen the spirit to old gold, the body growing rounder and waxier with time. Maturation runs slow and even in the cool Speyside warehouses. First fill wood drives the maturation, the cask clear in the spirit. The spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a soft beeswax.

At its natural 58.8% it is full and fruity. Green apple, citrus and a waxy note, over a gentle, creamy oak. Soft apple and a waxy honey sit behind the cask. A long, fruity finish carries a waxy honey. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
