Description
This GlenAllachie was bottled by Samaroli, an 11 year old, distilled in 1995, from cask Z06/06088, at 45%, one of 441 bottles. GlenAllachie is a rich, sherried Speyside malt from Aberlour, built on full bodied spirit and active casks. It was designed almost entirely gravity fed, an efficient plant for its time. It was built for the 1960s blend boom, its make long destined for the blender's vat.
It was drawn from a thick, full bodied wash, for a thick, ester rich spirit the casks then deepen. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working deep into the malt. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the orchard notes deepening to sultana, date and chocolate. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body.
At an approachable 45% it is soft and fruity. Baked apple, honey and a dark chocolate, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked apple and a warm cinnamon lift the middle. The finish runs long, full and warming. This is a rich Speyside malt of dried fruit and chocolate.
