Anam na h-Alba bottled this GlenAllachie, a 10 year old, distilled in 2012, from cask 900025, at 59.2%, one of 675 bottles. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt from the hills above Aberlour, below Ben Rinnes. It runs unusually long fermentations, up to a hundred and sixty hours, for a thick, ester rich and fruity spirit. It was built for the 1960s blend boom, its make long destined for the blender's vat. It matures its spirit in sixteen dunnage warehouses on the distillery site at Aberlour.

The spirit was drawn from a thick, full bodied wash, shaping a rich Speyside body with real weight. It was fully matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood deep in the rich spirit. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend riper orchard fruit and a chocolate depth. The full spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out its darker register.

At a hearty 59.2% it carries real weight. A rich, sherried sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run dried fruit, dark sugar and a warm spice. The finish runs long, full and warming. This is a deep, sherried Speyside single malt.
