Glen Scotia from the distillery, a 6 year old, from 2016, at 56.8%, 741 bottles in all. Glen Scotia is a salty, oily Campbeltown malt from the west coast of Scotland. It sits on High Street in Campbeltown, on the Kintyre peninsula on the west coast.

Worked through the stills for an oily, coastal make, building the Campbeltown Glen Scotia style. Maturation came in an Oloroso cask, layered over the briny Glen Scotia make. In these extractive early years the oak gives vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over a briny, oily spirit. Refill oak lets the salty, oily Glen Scotia character lead the way. Maturation in the Campbeltown warehouses, by the sea, lends a coastal edge. It is one of only three working distilleries left in Campbeltown, with Springbank and Glengyle. Crosshill Loch water and a long ferment give the oily, coastal Glen Scotia make. A long ferment gives a fruity make that ages with a coastal, oily grace.

At cask strength 56.8% it is full bodied. Sea salt, oil and a salted toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked apple and a sea salt lift it. The finish is long, oily and salted. This is a Campbeltown single malt of real character.
